Everyone has a "why" for their business, and my "why" developed out of a desire to be a stay-at-home mom. As my husband and I started a family, we knew me staying home with the kids was something we both wanted. I loved being home with them, and each time a birthday rolled around for one of our kids, I took great pleasure in baking a special cake for the celebration. As our children grew, so did my love of baking. Our kids are now teens, and it's still my desire to be home when they get home from school and to be available when they need or want me. That's where the in-home bakery idea started. It's become a way to use my hobby as a means for some extra income for our family, it gives me a creative outlet, and it still allows me to be home with our kids.
Why the name "Wednesday Surprise Bakery"? At the start, I would post items for sale on a Wednesday on Facebook. That worked for awhile, but I soon discovered that people didn't necessarily want me to pick what they'd like on the menu for the day and they didn't necessarily want it on a Wednesday! Even though the original idea didn't take off, the name stuck, and I've been taking orders since.
